Solar Activity
Solar activity has remained at high levels with eight M-Class (R1-Minor) level flares through the period. The strongest flare was an M2.7 at 07/0746 from Region 3889 (S10E66, Ekc/beta-delta) which continues to come into view from the east limb. Region 3883 (S07W07, Fkc/beta-gamma-delta) was responsible for three of the M-Class flares; it grew slightly in length and continued to see maturity in its intermediate spots penumbra. Region 3886 (S08E23, Fki/beta-gamma-delta) maintains its large and complex magnetic structure but has remained relatively stable, being responsible for only one C-Class flare over the period. All other regions were relatively stable or in decay.
Solar Wind
Solar wind parameters became enhanced starting at 07/1425 UTC from what is most likely the glancing blow from the CME associated with the M3.8 flare on 04/1058 UTC. The total field reached 8nT with the Bz component dropping to -2 nT at the time of arrival. The total field continued to strengthen reaching a max of 9 nT with a -6 nT Bz component. Solar wind speed reached a max of 448 km/s and has been slowly trending towards 350 km/s. The phi angle has been variable but has been mostly in the positive (away from the Sun) orientation.
Energetic Particle
The greater than 2 MeV electron flux exceeded the 1000 pfu threshold at GOES-16 at 07/1535 UTC and dropped below threshold at 11/1710 UTC. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux has remained at background levels.
